1009 Upper Kangaroo River Rd Kangaroo Valley NSW 2577
FREE dance development showing
The Monsoon Australia Project, midway through their two-week residency at Bundanon, will visit The ARTS LAB, Upper River Hall on Saturday 7 November to share, show and discuss the work they have been developing.
The Bundanon residency brings together nine dance artists – three from Europe, three from Asia and three from Australia. Arco Renz (Kobalt Works Belgium), David Pledger (Not Yet Its Difficult) and Margie Medlin (for Critical Path) will co-curate and co-facilitate the project. The dancers will only find out about their counterparts just before the residency giving them a rare opportunity to engage in an encounter without pre-conceived ideas about each other. We will be announcing the artists in the week prior so keep up to date by following The ARTS LAB on facebook.
Monsoon includes research, debate and inter-cultural arts practice at its heart. The project seeks to engage Asian, Australian, and European artists, as well as cultural operators and organisations with the values of serious artistic exploration in an interdisciplinary and cosmopolitan arts context. During the residency, specialists and academics working in different fields periodically intervene, as “zap guests”, in the artistic research process.
This is a FREE event for the Kangaroo Valley community and a great opportunity to experience and understand the processes of artistic research in a dance context.
The presentation will run for about an hour and starts at 3:30pm.
