Special Preview Screening with filmmaker Q&A

The ARTSLAB is back with a special preview screening of a new and important short film at Upper River Hall.

‘Regenerating Australia’ is a new short film by award-winning filmmaker Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film) and the Regen Studios team, developed and produced in partnership with WWF Australia. The film explores what Australia could look like by 2030 and is based on a four month interview process with a diverse group of Australians who shared their hopes and dreams for the country’s future. It is a story of empowerment. A story of solutions. A story of regeneration.

However this is not just a film! Officially launching in February 2022, the film will be supported by hundreds of distributed community screenings and design workshops. The film will be accompanied by a 2 million dollar fund for community solutions, with a group of impact investors ready to scale up those solutions.

The impact goals are to build the social, economic, and political license to accelerate the transition to a regenerative economy that values Australia’s greatest assets – our natural environment and resilient, sustainable communities.

The ARTSLAB is thrilled to be able to bring this short film to the Valley for a special preview screening. Damon Gameau and the impact team will be at Upper River Hall and following the film will host a question and answer session, with a focus on community-led regeneration.

Gameau explains what motivated him to make this film, focused on his home country. At its heart, this film asks what would Australia look like in 2030 if we simply listened to the needs of its people? The answer is both inspiring and achievable.”
